Tithing

The tithe is God's stand for one way of measuring our obedience to Him. The scripture says, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse." We do not give the tithe unto the Lord. We pay it unto Him. God owns all things. How are we though, selfish as we often are, to be inspired to pay the tithe. The inspiration of the tithe is love. Love must be the motive and inspiration of all acceptable giving. The following is the "Ten Commandments of Stewardship"

  1. Thou shalt not make money a god for Me.
  2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image -- dimes, dollars, greenbacks, stocks or bonds to bow thyself down to serve them.
  3. Though shalt not take the gifts of the Lord, thy God in vain by failing to recognize Him as owner and thyself as His steward for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his gifts in vain.
  4. Remember the tithe to keep it holy.
  5. Honor the Lord wit the tithes and offerings that thy stewardship may be faithful in the life which the Lord thy God give thee.
  6. Thou shalt not kill the spirituality o with covetousness.
  7. Thou shalt not commit the sine of avarice.
  8. Thou shalt not steal the Lord's tithe.
  9. Thou shalt not bear false a position towards thy church and the kingdom of God by failing thy support with tithes and offerings.
  10. Thou shalt not covet the Lord's Day, or His tithe, or His offerings, or anything that is the Lord's.
